Going From Suburbia to Intown Living

Over the past few months, there have been several articles posted on the internet about how large groups of people are moving from the suburbs into the city. The trend of homeowners leaving the surburbs for a more urban lifestyle, has caused home prices in some urban neighborhoods to sky rocket. This has been particularly the case in Atlanta, Georgia. For many years the suburban areas of Atlanta experienced a lot of residential growth. This included suburban communities such as Roswell, Peachtree City, Duluth and Roswell. However in more recent years many suburban residents began complaining about their long daily commutes. Although there are some residents fortunate enough to work near their homes, the majority work in the midtown and downtown areas. For them a typical morning commute can take two hours or more. This long daily grind finally started taking a toll on their bodies and cars. So in order to cut down on their commute, many sold their homes in the suburbs and moved into the

Personal Assistants are Invaluable

Behind every successful business executive and celebrity, there is usually a personal assistant standing in the shadows. This is the person that celebrities and business executives depend on to keep them focused, up-to-date and organized. The life of a business executive is typically very hectic, which is why many hire their own personal assistants. High level executives in the real estate industry for example, often rely on their personal assistant to help them schedule appointments, track their commissions and coordinate all the details for their open houses. If the personal assistant works for a real estate executive that sells high end real estate, a typical workday can last 12 to 14 hours. This is because buyers and sellers of high end real state are often very demanding -- which means all the details concerning their open houses and transactions must be on time and accurate. Then there are high level executives in the music industry who depend on their personal assistants to help

Women & Real Estate

The number of women entering the real estate market as investors has increased significantly over the past few years. This has included more women purchasing distressed properties and bidding on foreclosure sales. Many women across the country today are discovering that investing in real estate is a good way to generate additional income. Some have been purchasing distressed properties for pennies on the dollar, then fixing them up and selling them for a profit. Then there are women who are purchasing discounted properties and becoming landlords. Some of these women however are finding out that being a landlord is not easy. Some of the challenges they face include trying to find good tenants and paying for costly repairs. In addition to investing in residential real estate, many women today are also investing in commercial properties. This includes office buildings, manufacturing plants and vacant warehouses. The women who were able to purchase office buildings during 2009 and 2010 whe

Keeping a Positive Perspective

In this crazy world, it is sometimes hard to keep a positive perspective about things. Just watching the daily news on television can easily put you in a negative and funky mindset. Keeping a positive attitude these days can definitely be difficult, but it can be done if you consistently focus on positive things. Some may ask how can you focus on something positive when the media posts nothing but negative and depressing news stories. Over the past week for example the media has been full of negative news stories about the new healthcare plan. Many media reports have stated that the new monthly premiums are going to be very high. For those who have lost their job or living on a tight budget, this is not something they want to hear. A person in either of these situations is already under a lot of stress, and hearing news likes this just makes their stress level go higher. Needless to say it is hard for them to keep a positive attitude. One way people in this situation can keep a positiv

The Power of Blogs

Over the past five years, blogs have become a very powerful online tool for marketing and business purposes. When blogging initially began, it was generally viewed as a simple platform for people to write about their personal experiences and hobbies. This included blogs that focused on topics such as how to overcome bankruptcy and easy pasta cooking tips. However as the years went by blogs started expanding into much more broader content and topics . Today there are millions of blogs on the internet, and the most popular ones focus on topics like current news events, film, career advice and fashion. Keep in mind that the majority of these blogs were started by everyday average people. Which means you dont have to have any special skills to start one. While some blogs are written purely for entertainment, many others are used for business and marketing related purposes. Some of those who are creating blogs for these purposes are startup business owners and corporate CEOs. They hav

Teaching Kids Healthy Eating Habits

Many of us started out in life with some pretty bad eating habits, which included eating a lot of fats and sweets. If you grew up in the late 1970s or 80s, you probably ate fast food at least one or two times per week. This was the time when fast food chains like Kentucky Fried Chicken and McDonalds were really starting to get popular. Many moms loved these fast food chains because it allowed them at least one day without having to cook. Although this was a fast way to get a meal, the food overall was very unhealthy. It has been reported that the McDonald's 'Big Mac' and Burger King 'Whopper' contain over 1,000 calories and over 20 grams of fat. In addition to eating fast food, many of us also started eating other types of bad food at an early age which included doughnuts and ice cream. In just about every neighborhood there was either a Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donut shop. The way the donuts are displayed through the window make it pretty hard to resist them. It

Good Investments Opportunities for 2014

Finding the right investment opportunity in this current economy can be difficult because so many industries are still unstable. There was a time when investing in real estate was a smart investment, however the unstable housing market has made investing in real estate a lot riskier. For the first and second quarters of this year, the housing market went on a rollercoaster ride. This was due in part to the unpredictable stock market. In some parts of the country the housing market has started making small gains, and in other parts of the country the housing market continues to decline. As a result of this, many investors have started scaling back on their real estate investments. This is not to say that you should stop investing in real estate, but it is recommended that you proceed with caution. Looking towards 2014, real estate is expected to be safer investment. This is because by then the housing market should be stabilizing in most parts of the country. According to real estate a

New Reality TV Shows

The new fall reality TV lineup was announced a few days ago. The upcoming season will bring a wide variety of new shows, which range from shows about single professionals to ordained preachers. One of the upcoming shows for the fall season is Preachers of L. A. This show will focus on several preachers in Los Angeles in the Los Angeles area, with emphasis on their spiritual messages and prosperous lifestyles. The preachers featured on the show are pastor Jay Haizlip, minister Deitrick Haddon, bishop Noel Jones, bishop Ron Gibson and bishop Clarence McClendon. Even before the series was officially announced, there were some negative comments. Some of these comments came from loyal church goers who feel that the life of a preacher should not be on a reality TV show. These people feel strongly that what is said between GOD and a preacher should stay private. Then there are those who feel that these preachers are nothing more than just plain con artists. They say these men have found a nic

Toxic Work Environments are Bad for Your Health

Working in a toxic work environment can be very bad for your health. Not only does this type of environment affect you mentally, but it can also affect your physical health as well. Working in a stressful environment over a long period time can become very toxic for the mind and body. This is one of the reasons why employee absenteeism is very high. Toxic work environments have been around for a long time, however they seem to have increased somewhat in the past several years. Some of this may be due to the unstable economy, which has created high levels of stress for CEOs and business owners. At many manufacturing companies today for example, the owner is feeling a lot of pressure from overseas competitors. This type of stress usually trickles down to other divisions and departments. Other ways toxic work environments are created, is by disgruntled employees constantly spreading gossip and rumors of gloom and doom. Just about everyone has worked with someone like this. All it takes i

Why Some People Stay on Welfare

It may be hard for some to believe, but in many cases people are better off financially staying on welfare versus working a full time job. There has been a debate going on for years, as to why some families stay on welfare for generations. When the welfare program was initially launched, it was designed to provide temporary financial assistance. However as the years went by more and more people started using welfare as a permanent source of income. Fast forward to today and there are millions of people living on the welfare system. Some of these individuals are single women who need financial assistance to help them feed and clothe their children. There are some taxpayers who feel that these women should get a job to pay their bills, and not depend on their tax dollars. However, if you realistically look at the salary many jobs pay today, you will realize why so many people (including single women) choose to stay on welfare. When a person initially gets off of welfare and joins the wor

The Next Chapter for Detroit - Challenges of coming back from backruptcy

Despite filing for bankruptcy protection, the city of Detroit still faces some major financial challenges. Although bankruptcy will help the city reduce its debt and provide more flexibility negotiating with creditors, the leaders of the city must still figure out a way to increase revenue and attract investors in order for the city to survive. When the city of Detroit initially filed for bankruptcy, city leaders from other parts of the country were very surprised. Although they knew that Detroit was having financial problems, they never thought in a million years that the city would file for bankruptcy. Some were also watching closely because they were wondering if bankruptcy might be a good option for their city. So far however Detroit is the only major city to file bankruptcy this year. So now that the bankruptcy paperwork has been filed and approved, what is the next step for Detroit? One of the first things city leaders will have to do is convince business owners and developers th

The Growing Trend of Popup Shops

Popup stores are becoming a fast growing trend in the retail industry. These stores are being launched by small up and coming retailers and large major retail chains. One of the main benefits of launching a popup shop is that they dont require the manpower or capital of a full service store. Over the past three years popup shops have been popping up all across the country, especially during the summer and holiday season. Marshalls is one of the many major retail chains that has launched popup shops in several downtown communities. The consumer response to these popup shops has been very positive. Although the product line is limited, consumers have reported finding some really good deals. In addition to launching popup shops, Marshalls has also launched a retail tour bus in select towns and cities. To highlight his specialty line of clothing and accessory products, a specialty popup shop was created for designer Michael Kors. Many in the fashion industry were curious to see how buye

More Corporate Layoffs

It was recently announced that by the end of the year, several major companies will have laid off thousands of employees. Some of these companies include Disney, Blackberry and Wells Fargo. The reason Disney is laying off employees is because the company is consolidating many of its divisions in order to cut back on expenses. The first round of layoffs at Disney occurred in the film division. Those affected were individuals that worked in the home marketing, animation and music departments. A few months later after these initial layoffs, the company laid off one hundred employees in the interactive division. Some industry professionals were a little surprised at these layoffs, because Disney posted a strong quarterly profit. The profit was estimated to be close to five billion dollars, which was an eighteen percent increase from the previous year. One of the reasons Disney might be consolidating divisions and laying off employees, is because the company is positioning itself financiall

Changing Your Career Plan

In this current economy many people have been forced to make alternative job choices. This has especially been the case for middle aged Americans and recent college graduates. Due to the instability of the economy and job market, it has become harder to chart out a traditional career path. As an example, there are thousands of college graduates that majored in banking who expected find a banking related job after they graduated. Unfortunately for many, finding a job in the banking sector has proven to be very difficult. This is due to the fact a large number of major banks like Wells Fargo and JP Morgan Chase have experienced financial losses and huge company layoffs. As a result, these grads had to find alternative career options. For some, this meant taking their banking degree and going to work for an insurance company or financial services firm. Now instead of being a corporate banker, these individuals work as portfolio analysts or finance managers. These positions dont pay as mu

Fall Cupcake Recipes

Fall is a great time to make things like homemade soups, homemade breads and cupcakes. Each year around early October, bakeries across the country start getting prepared for their fall bakery treats. This includes warm and sweet cupcakes that go well with hot tea and hot chocolate. One cupcake flavor combination that is very popular during the fall is caramel and pumpkin spice. When you bake these cupcakes the whole house smells just like a New York bakery. There is nothing that smells better than the scent of caramel melting on the stove and pumpkin spice baking in the oven. To make this cupcake, you will need a box of pumpkin spice cake mix and all the required additional ingredients. These usually include a cup of water, a teaspoon of oil and two eggs. if you want some extra flavor, add in a little nutmeg and a dash of cinnamon. Spoon the cupcake mixture into a cupcake pan, and then place the pan in a three hundred and fifty degree oven for twelve minutes. While the cupcakes are bak

Survey of Middle Class Families

A recent survey of middle class families from across the country, revealed that many are concerned about their financial future and the middle class disappearing. This survey consisted of five hundred middle income families from various states and regions. Many of those surveyed currently living in the southwestern part of the country (i.e., New Mexico and Arizona) are extremely concerned about slow job growth and illegal immigration. They feel that these two issues are having an extreme negative impact on the middle class. Some of those surveyed also stated that they have downsized their homes over the past two years, because they are trying to cut back on their debt and expenses. They are hoping that this will give them a financial buffer in case they lose their jobs. Survey respondents from the Midwestern part of the country are very concerned about the large number of lost jobs in the automotive and manufacturing sectors. Many of these survey respondents live in states like Ohio

IPOs & Tech Companies

It was recently announced that Twitter will soon be launching an IPO. To most in the tech industry this was not news, however it was news to most Twitter users. So far the response about Twitter going public has been mainly positive, but there have been a few negative comments. Those who responded positively to Twitter going public feel that an IPO is long overdue. This is because Twitter has been cash positive for quite a few years, and it should have no problems attracting investors. On the other hand, those who have responded negatively to the news about Twitter going public are concerned that launching an IPO will hurt the company. One case study example they use is Facebook. There are many people today who feel that going public really hurt Facebook as a company. Prior to the launch of their IPO, Facebook was simply viewed as a cool social media site. Although the site generates millions of viewers, it is still not viewed as a company you would want to invest in. This is one of th

Teenage Binge Drinking

Teenage drinking is an issue that families have been dealing with for years. However, in more recent years binge drinking among teens has gotten out of control. No one seems to know why binge drinking among teens is on the rise, but some therapists feel that it is related to online peer pressure. Although teen peer pressure is nothing new, it has become more of a problem now that so many teens use social media. Social media is not being directly blamed for the rise in teen binge drinkink, but it has had an impact on how teens interact with other. This particularly includes teens who like to bully other teens. It is the increased level of bullying that has driven some teens to binge drink. This has unfortunately included teens as young as thirteen years old. It is really sad to hear about children this young doing something like binge drinking to forget their problems. In regards to teen bullying, social media has made it easier for teens to send threatening messages to each other. What

Colors that Promote Creativity

If you work in a creative field, you know how important it is to have the right colors around you for inspiration. When I worked in the marketing industry, I used to hang pictures in my office that contained shades of mango and red. For me personally, red and mango colors used to get my creative juices flowing. Once I closed the door to my office, I would be able to come up with some creative ideas and marketing campaigns. I am not sure why these colors inspire me so much, but I think it has something to do with how my brain process the color pigmentations. I have heard from various people that work in the public relations industry, that colors like pink and yellow help them become more creative. A few have told me that they would actually put yellow and pink post-it notes on the walls in their office. Some of these people are entertainment publicists, who say that they need bright colors like yellow and pink to help them create effective PR pitches. Alison Brod is a PR professional wh

Launching a Career in New York City

Each year thousands of college grads relocate to new cities for promising career opportunities. Not surprisingly many end up in New York city. Beginning a career in New York city can be both daunting and exciting. It can be a little daunting because the cost of living is so high, but it can also be exciting because New York has so much to offer. Unlike other cities, job opportunities in New York are in a wide range of fields. For example, many of the best paying jobs in Houston are mainly in the oil industry, and some of the best paying jobs in San Francisco are primarily in the technology field. If you are looking to start a career in finance, you should be able to find quite a few opportunities in New York city. This includes opportunities at major investment banks like JP Morgan and Wells Fargo. These banks are always on the lookout for the next generation of talent, which is why they recruit heavily at colleges and universities. In order to increase your chances of getting a job at

Brands Find Success on HSN

The Home Shopping Network, better known as HSN, has become a major platform for consumer brands to promote their products. For over twenty years, the Home Shopping Network has enabled consumers to shop and purchase products from the comfort of their home. In earlier years the product offerings mainly consisted of jewelry and basic home care items. Over the years however the network began adding a broader range of products to its on-air shopping portfolio. Today on HSN you can find everything from clothes and bedding to perfumes and cosmetics. Having a broader product line has helped HSN attract a larger viewing audience. As a result, hundreds of brands contact HSN each year to be a featured guest on their show. One of the brands that has been featured on HSN numerous times is Signature Club A. This brand was founded by cosmetic executive and make-up expert Adrienne Arpel. Signature A products are featured on HSN about four times a year -- which includes the winter holiday season. Arpel

Consumers Losing Trust in Tech Companies

Recent articles about tech companies providing personal user information to government organizations like the NSA, has caused some consumers to become concerned about their online privacy. Following the media coverage of ex-NSA employee Edward Snowden, further articles were released that revealed companies like Facebook and Yahoo have been providing user data to the NSA for years. While this may not have been news to those in tech industry, it was definitely news to the average online user. Most had no idea that their personal data was being viewed by high security government organizations. The average person today spends at least three to four hours a day on their computer, which includes frequently visits to search engine and social media sites like Yahoo and Facebook. While the online searches conducted by most people dont raise any red flags, there are others who conduct online searches that may be considered questionable. However, does this give the NSA a reason to view their dat

Celebrity Chefs Have Marketing Power

As a result of the large number of viewers and media attention they attract, celebrities chefs are being sought after by large advertisers. These advertisers realize that celebrity chefs have the ability to introduce their products and services to a very large audience. The celebrity chef craze initially began back in the early 2000s when the Food Network began launching a series of television cooking shows. One of the biggest breakout celebrity chefs during that period was Paula Deen. Her show, Home Cooking was almost an immediate hit. Viewers seem to really connect with Deens homemade recipes and down to earth personality. As a result of generating so much viewer attention, Deen was able to secure a large number of marketing and advertising contracts. Some of these have included Walmart and Smithfield Foods. Although some of Deens contracts have been terminated due to her recent scandal, many believe that she will soon be back on television with a new cooking show and new sponso

Simple Fall Dinner Recipes

The fall season is a perfect time to experiment with different recipes and hearty dishes. One of the most popular fall recipes is homemade vegetable soup. This dish is very hearty and makes you feel really warm. One of the best things about homemade vegetable soup is that you can make it a lot of different ways. One of the easiest ways to make it is by combining chicken broth with fresh cut up vegetables. Although you can use any vegetables you want, most people like to use celery, green beans, corn and tomatoes. It usually takes the broth and vegetable combination about two hours to fully cook. If you want to some additional flavor in your soup, add in some nutmeg and grilled corn. The nutmeg will give it a slight sweet taste and the grilled corn will add a smooth smoky flavor. In addition, adding in a tablespoon of flour will make the soup thicker. This soup will taste great on a fall afternoon with a garden salad and seasoned brown rice. Another favorite fall dinner recipe is stuffe

A Growing Need for Online Education

Enrollment in online schools has been growing steadily over the past five years. Many attribute this growth to the growing demand for alternative educational options. The large number of corporate mergers and layoffs has prompted many people to return to school to learn new skills. Since many of these people had previously worked in the same position for fifteen years or more, they realized that they needed a new skill-set in order to be competitive in the current job market. Many of these people also dont have the luxury of attending a four year college. So as a result, they are enrolling in online courses that typically last from twelve to fourteen months. Then there are those who are working fulltime but want to return to school so they can become more marketable and make more money. Since just about every industry today is becoming more and more dependent on digital technology, many workers over the age of fifty are returning to school so they can become more digital savvy. These

What Advertisers Really Think About Video Ads

An interesting article was published last week regarding what advertisers really think about video advertising. Many of those who participated in the survey were marketing directors at major consumer companies. At a time when it is becoming harder and harder to attract and retain customers, many companies have been launching online video ads as part of their marketing strategy. Since so many people spend time online today, these companies feel that videos ads are one of the best ways to reach potential customers. Some of the companies that have been launching video ads consistently over the past few years are automotive companies like Toyota and Ford. Both companies have been positioning their online ads on major online news sites and blogs. Because these sites generate close to a million views per month, advertisers feel that they will get a good return on their investment because they have a built in audience. The video ads that Ford and Toyota have created have received some good re

The End of Extended Unemployment Benefits

Extended unemployment benefits have been a major lifeline for thousands of unemployed people for the past four years. Unfortunately that lifeline is about to come to an end. The first phase of extended unemployment benefits was passed in late 2007. This extension of benefits was created because the national economy was starting to go into a serious decline. Since 2007 three additional extensions have been added to the extended unemployment benefits program. The most recent extension occurred last year in December 2012. It was hard getting this last extension passed because republicans and democrats couldnt agree on the details. However, in the end both sides finally agreed to extend the program for another year. Unless another extension is passed, the current extended unemployment benefits program is set to expire December 31, 2013. It seems unlikely however that another extension will be passed. This is because the presidents office is currently focusing on other things like workin

Community Resources for the Unemployed

As a result of the national unemployment rate staying close to 7% over the past four years, many new resources have been created to help the unemployed. This has included new food banks being opened in hard hit communities and neighborhoods. Many of these new food banks are being sponsored by local area churches and non-profits. Because the need for food assistance is so great, traditional food banks have been unable to keep up with demand. In previous years most food banks were only open to the public two or three days per week, however over the past four years most have had to extend their hours of operation to four days a week and weekends. Economists have stated that this country has never seen such a need for food bank assistance since the Great Depression. Even though the media continues reporting that the economy is getting better, there are still thousands of people who are unemployed and dont have enough to eat. Economists predict that this unfortunate situation is likely to

2013 Holiday Shopping Forecast

Although it is only September, most retail stores are getting prepared for the 2013 holiday shopping season. Most are hoping to see an increase in sales over last year, but some industry analysts are not very optimistic about the upcoming holiday shopping forecast. Despite all the recent news reports about the economy turning around, many economists have stated that the country still has a long way to go before we start seeing a full financial recovery. This includes the retail industry, which has been hit really hard by the recent economic decline. Although some stores like Macys and Target have seen some increases in revenue and sales, their overall profit numbers are still down. It is for this reason that both stores are expected to launch early holiday marketing campaigns. According to a recent consumer survey, many people are not planning to spend a lot of money on gifts this year. Some survey respondents stated that they are not doing much holiday shopping this year because the

Issues That Plague Foreclosed Properties

No one will argue that you can find some good price deals on foreclosed homes. However some have sat so long on the market that they need major repairs. At the height of the housing decline in 2009, there were some homes that have sat on the market for more than two years. As a result of sitting unoccupied for so long, some had major issues like cracked ceilings and mold. Every week thousands of people stand on the courthouse steps of their local county to bid on a foreclosed property. In most cases people are purchasing these properties sight unseen. Prior to the economic decline that began back in late 2007, most foreclosed homes were in pretty good condition because they only sat on the market for a few weeks. Fast forward to today and you have foreclosed properties that are in really bad condition because it is taking years for banks to sell them. One issue that many foreclosed homes have today, is mold building up in the basement and attic. This has especially been the case with f

The Debate About Tax Incentives

As part of a strategy to improve local business development, many city mayors and state governors are using tax incentives to attract new business. Due to the economic conditions over the past few years, a lot of cities and states have experienced huge decreases in business growth and development. In an effort to get their cities and states back on track, mayors and governors across the country are developing new business tax incentive packages. These packages include tax breaks and tax incentives that help to offset the cost of training and hiring. Florida is one of many states that has been using tax incentives to attract new business. So far these incentives have helped the state attract major companies like Time Warner. According to an article in the Orlando Sentinel, Time Warner opened a 500 person office in Tampa in 2011. In order to seal the deal with Time Warner, the state offered the company three million dollars in state and local tax incentives. By having these tax incentive

A Look at Bike Friendly Cities

In an effort to attract more young families and young professionals, some cities like Portland and Atlanta are adding more bike lanes near parks and communities. For many years, the city of Portland has been well known for being a very bike friendly place. This includes having dedicated bike lanes in major residential areas. Despite already being considered a very bike friendly city, Portland is continuing to add even more bike lanes and bike paths for local area residents. This may be hard for some to believe, but having bike friendly streets is one of the reasons many people relocate from across the country to Portland. In some ways the city of Atlanta is playing catch-up when it comes to adding bike lanes and being a first class bike friendly city. Because Atlanta has become such a popular relocation destination for single individuals (who often like to ride bikes to work), the city has been busy building new bike lanes throughout several in-town neighborhoods. This includes new b

The Health Benefits of Nuts & Berries

One of the quickest ways to improve your health is to eat some berries and nuts. For many years these two foods have been used to treat diseases and other medical conditions. Incorporating berries into your daily diet can help to improve your digestive system. This is because most berries contain a high percentage of minerals and fiber. Most berries also contain a lot of antioxidants which helps to protect the body from inflammation and infections. Some of the berries that have the most health benefits are blueberries, strawberries and cranberries. Blueberries are high in antioxidants and strawberries contain high levels of vitamin C. While cranberries contain vitamins and nutrients that help to cleanse the digestive system and prevent urinary tract infections. This is why so many doctors recommend eating cranberries at least two to three times a week. Although most berries taste good by themselves, they also taste good combined with other foods like low-fat cheeses and yogurt. Berries

Who Made Forbes 2013 Most Powerful Women List

Each year Forbes magazine compiles a list of the worlds most powerful women. This list contains women from all walks of life which range from businesswomen to musical performers. Lets start with a look at some of the top ten women on the list. On this years list the number ten spot is held by Indra Nooyi, the CEO of PepsiCo. Nooyi is fifty seven years old and she has done a great job of helping PepsiCo reach one billion dollars in sales. One of the projects her company is currently working on is developing a new sweetner to be used in Pepsi soda products. This will hopefully help her company compete more effectively with Coca Cola. Number three on this years list is Melinda Gates, wife of Microsoft founder Bill Gates. She is being recognized this year for all the work she is doing with the Gates Foundation. One of the primary goals of the Gates Foundation is eliminating polio. The foundation has volunteers that go around the world visiting people in small towns and villages who don

Choosing a College Major

Selecting a college major may be more challenging than some people think. It also doesnt help that most colleges today offer a very wide range of degree options, which makes selecting one even harder. One group of people that really has a hard time selecting a college major, are recent high school graduates. The reason some of these grads have such a hard time selecting a major is because they dont really have enough life experience to make a decision. This is why so many select standard degrees in areas like business or finance. Then there are those grads who select a degree major based on recommendations from family and friends. This has proven to be disastrous in many cases. For example, a creative based person may end up pursuing a degree in anthropology because their family thought it would be interesting. Although their family members meant well, a anthropology degree is not a good degree choice for a creative based person. When it comes to selecting a degree, it is recommended

Job Recruiters Face New Challenges

I recently read an interesting article about what job recruiters look for when they are trying to fill an open position. This includes what key elements they look for in a resume and when they are conducting an interview. When it comes to finding the right person for a job, most recruiters claim that this is no easy task. It has especially become even harder in recent years due to the economy. In earlier times most recruiters had a  set list of the exact things they were looking for in a candidate. However, the economic conditions and high unemployment rate over the past few years has made them revamp their hiring strategy. For example, before the economic decline most recruiters were looking for candidates that spent at three five to five years on a previous job. However, as a result of the current economic conditions this type of  candidate is becoming harder to find. This is because many people have had to change jobs two or three times in the past several years due to company merge

How Alien Rumors Get Started

After years of reading stories about aliens, I am finally beginning to understand how alien rumors get circulated. In over 70 percent of the alien articles I have read, the people making the claims have lived somewhere in the southwest. As a matter of fact, the majority of them seem to live in either Arizona or New Mexico. I dont know a lot about either of these states, so I dont really know why so many alien stories originate from there. In regards to the stories I have read regarding alien sightings in Arizona, most seem to stem from people claiming to have seen bright lights in the desert. In most instances these sightings seem to have taken place near a military base. For example, there was a story about three years ago about a man living in Arizona who says he saw an actual spaceship being transported from a military base located near Flagstaff, Arizona. He says that he knew that it was an actual spaceship because he could vividly see the lights and the ships outline. He said t
